My gynae, Dr Poon King Fu

This morning, I had an unusual larger amount of brown discharge. I was quite worried. There is supposedly our company's year end party at 10 am. I didn't attend. I rushed down to Mount Alvernia Medical Center straight. Before that, I told my boss about my situation. [I really hope he keeps it to himself because my condition is unstable at the moment].

Took a cab down from the office. $10. Went to #02-22 and saw Poon's Clinic for Women. The receptionist registered me and I waited for about 10 mins. I saw Dr Poon. He was indeed very gentle (as mentioned in the forums). He asked me about my family history etc and I told him that I took diane35, saw TCM etc. He was indeed very detailed.

The nurse assisted me to remove my pants and panties. And Doctor Poon proceeded to do a scan (on my tummy first). He said I don't have a full bladder and perhaps the sac is too small, it's very natural that we can't see anything yet. He asked me not to worry.

Then he asked for my permission whether he can do a vaginal scan for me. I am not sure whether it'd be a concern because I am having brown spotting under. He said no issues and he did it. Perhaps, he could see that I am shy, he was very gentle, slow and before he did anything, he explained to me what he was doing. I feel that he is patient and very professional. (unlike the previous TPY gynae that I did pap smear, who got impatient on me).

He said that I indeed have a fair bit of brown bleeding but again he assured me, as long as it's not red it's fine. And if I have really bad cramps, I have to call him immediately, and he will admit me to A&E. He said that he can see a little small sac but he isn't sure (again because I don't have a full bladder). And he continued to say that I have a good uterus and everything would be okay and ask me not to worry.

He said he will give me 'An Tai Yao' and a one week MC.

I didn't ask him any questions further. But he took the initiative to tell me what food to avoid, I should not carry heavy stuff and other than going to bathe and have my meals, I should stay in bed most of the time, as much as I can.

Before I left, the nurse asked me to do a urine test. I was told that my urine is normal. Paid $85 for the consultation, plus the scan it amounted to $150. I also paid $46 for the An Tai Yao. I have to see Dr Poon in his Hougang Ave 1 clinic next Wednesday, 5 Jan 2011.

As it was drizzling, I took a cab to my mom's place. $10. My mom was quite worried too. She called me (after I sms her) and she told me to go over for some macaroni soup. Dad and Mom have been extra nice to me this period of time.

And because I was very worried by Doctor Poon's comment ["can't see anything"], I tested the next day just to make sure. Thankfully it's still positive and this time a clearer positive too.

Feeling pregnant 3

I tested the pregnancy test strips:

1. On the 9DPO (2nd urine in the morning, 10 am), it was a negative.
2. On the 11DPO (2nd urine in the morning, 10 am), it was also a negative. I'm going to bring home the test strip and try again tomorrow, first thing in the morning.
3. On the12DPO (1st urine in the morning, 8 am), it was a negative. Starting to feel slightly disappointed but I will not give up.
4. On the 14DPO (1st urine in the morning, 8 am), it was a faint positive. I'm not sure whether I dip the strip long enough before removing it to see the result. My temperature is also at peak today 37 degrees. Normally (since i suspect i am pregnant) was between the range of 36.82 and 36.96.

And yesterday after japanese buffet lunch, I had early dinner (mutton soup with rice) at 6.30 pm, but about 9.30 pm I started to feel slightly hungry again.

My hiccups have not ceased, I sometimes also get the queasy / nauseous feeling along with the hiccups. My backaches are also getting more and more. I get sleepy and tired easily as well. I occasionally have the "churning" sound in my tummy.

5. On the 15DPO (1st urine in the morning, 8 am), it was a better positive but not clear enough. I'm going to the doctor later. But today, I felt my heartbeat was faster.

6. On the 18DPO (1st urine in the morning, 8 am), it was a real positive. Took Duphaston (An Tai Yao).

Last night, I had a nightmare that my period is here. Red blood somemore. Who says we can't see colour in dreams. The red was so red. So I was quite scared to test this morning. It's a faint positive. I was quite confused whether it's a real positive, so I tested another time. Well, it's still a faint one.

I just came back from seeing Doctor Victoria. She said a faint positive is still a positive. She said "congrats, you are pregnant." She has given me MC so that I can go polyclinic to get a referral letter to go to KKH. I immediately sms my parents, my sis and hubby (in that order).

I just calculated my EDD for fun online. Seems like baby will be a Virgo like me :)

I just came back from AMK polyclinic. I reached there at 1 pm but it was their lunch hour. They started to take registration from 1.30 pm onwards. My queue number is 2799. I left the place at 4 pm. It was a 3 hour wait (registration, consultation and payment). I saw Doctor Mark. He asked me when is my last menstrual cycle and (duno how he calculate) said that I am 7 weeks pregnant. [which I find it weird, I thought I am only about 2 weeks].

Anyway, the nurse at the polyclinic will contact me once they book an appt with KKH. Unfortunately, I am not allowed to choose the gynae under the subsidized scheme. I'm considering Doctor Khoo Chong Kiat (KKH) after reading reviews online. But the date they gave me was 21 Jan 2011. That's abit too long to wait isn't it?

Ovulation thermometer, Black sesame cereal, Babydust products

I also bought a ovulation thermometer from Guardians $11.95. Actually, a normal thermometer will do. But the current ones that hubby has at home made me all frustrated. First, they ran out of battery and then when the new battery is in, it wouldn't on. I pressed and pressed and hold until my finger pain. Fed up.

I bought this black sesame Cereal to try. GreenMax Yam and Black Sesame Nutritious Cereal $9.70. Hope it taste good.  Ingredients: Black sesame, Purple yam, Job's tear, Black wild rice, Buck's wheat, Wheat germ, Rye, Oat, Brown sugar, Rock sugar.

I joined mummysg forum and got to know lots of information there. I received Babydustshop products already. Bought the ovulation test strip and pregnancy test strip. I got the BELIEF Pack.

Feeling pregnant 2

Suddenly have the urge to buy milk. I rarely take cold drinks (whether gassy or non gassy) but I had the urge to drink it. Milk is good because it's good for the bones. I also have been having endless hiccups for more than 3 days throughout the day. Today, I didn't have spotting and I'm feeling dry underneath. Observing myself day after day and waiting for Dec 30 for my first testing.

Last night, I had one drop of spotting in brown after a day of dryness. I thought it's unusual and I kinda worry. This morning while brushing my teeth, the holy spirit prompted me to visit the doctor and tell her my concern. Seriously, seeing a doctor is the last thing that crosses my mind. All along, my intention is to do a pregnancy test first before seeing doctor.

Doctor Victoria agreed that I may be pregnant. And I may assume to be so until I experience massive bleeding, which would then mean either I've a miscarriage or that i dun have a baby when my menses are here. Meanwhile, she gave me two days MC to rest and folic acid. I have to lie down alot, avoid exercise, squatting and carrying heavy things.

Well, I may not be pregnant afterall but she said let's not take the risk, in case I am. I feel so glad that at least someone understands, someone doesn't think that I'm crazy or thinking too much that I may be pregnant. Coz I really feel so. I guess I know my body better than anyone else. And nothing like these sensation and signals and symptoms were ever felt and observed.

Doctor Victoria also asked me to stop my minocycline (my acne pills from Doctor Goh at Paragon) and just take good care of myself.

Right now, I just try not to sneeze so hard because it tenses up my tummy each time I sneeze.

--------------
Into my 7th day (on and off) of spotting now, it's usually less than half a teaspoon [entire day], sometimes, one teaspoon. From light brown, it has become dark brown spotting. I still have the same sensation; cramping, hiccups, slightly queasy, backaches. This waiting is killing me.

-------------
Into my 12th day (on and off) of spotting now, my temperature maintains at a consistent high. 36.9 something. I realised the darkening in between my legs (near the thigh area).

20 December 2010

Feeling pregnant 1

These two days are supposedly my fertile period (according to iphone period tracker). But we didn't BD last night. I guess Hubby was too tired from work and not in the mood. I was also tired from a swimming session with my friend.

According to my own mucus charting table, my most fertile day were on 12 and 13th. And we did ML. There are some spotting these few days and I read from my notes. It says it may be light bleeding from implantation.

Though yesterday and today, I have been hearing rumbling sounds from my stomach and feeling the bloatedness. I also experienced a little watery sensation in my mouth in the morning, feeling slight nauseous. Last night after eating a plate of chicken rice, I still felt hungry (though before leaving office, I ate some cookies and a pineapple tart).

I may be thinking too much or pinning too high hopes that we might strike this time. In fact, I do feel pregnant. FEEL is the word here.
-------------------------------------------

Last night at my brother-in-law's birthday chalet and I have the sensation that my period is coming and I thought I have been having the wrong "feeling" of being pregnant. I feel ache between my legs, I feel tired easily and I have also been having unusual hiccups and burping. (higher frequency)

Meanwhile, i've also googled on 'implantation bleeding'. All that was said just goes to assure me that I may be pregnant. I even tried to "hint" hubby but he kept asking me not to think about it and get stressed up. To a certain extent, it feels like he was splashing cold water on what I wanted to express. I know that I may be wrong. I may not be pregnant. But I may be. He made me a little upset just now. And so, he will not be the first to know if I am pregnant.

Anyway, even my hubby reacts this way, how would I dare to tell other people like my sis or my mom. In the end, I just told God about my experience and wrote down here what I have been through.

It will be an antagonising 2.5 weeks wait (or so they say). I pray that I have already conceived.

For now, I'm not certain. I guess I will check in January if my period doesn't come. In the meantime, I will take care of myself. You may be laughing but I have been sayanging my tummy and been talking to the little bean already. Hope the little bean will grow and grow.

---------------------------------
Today, I called Chen Mei Er to check if I can continue eating the chinese medication because I suspect that I may be pregnant. She said to stop the medication until I know the results. I'm still eating my Blackmores Conceive Well and then will start on GNC's Prenatal.

Future Plans

I got to know my bonus today at work and spoke to my boss. I have informed him that I have plans to leave next year. He said he likes me alot and finds that I'm a responsible person. But he will not stop me from pursuing my aspirations.

It may seem weird or crazy to some people. But i have set some goals for our future. I'm so grateful for today. I have so many revelations. Like I suddenly have perfect plans for the next 8 years in terms of family planning, career, finances and my goals. Hopefully, I can be a stay-at-home-mum when my first child is in K2. I am so thrilled. I can't wait to share this with hubby tonight.

However, i know that God's ways are higher and better than mine. Even though I hope that this will come to pass, I choose to put my trust in God. I will pray that His will be done instead of mine. I love you Jesus and I ask that You guide us in our daily lives.

I know that all things work together for our good. I'll pray over this and ask God for His grace.

Pre-seed : one

I used one stick of pre-seed last night. When I squeezed out the contents, it wasn't cooling or anything. I didn't even know it's out. I touched the liquid a little. I don't know how to describe it. It doesn't feel like gel, serum, lotion, cream. Not close at all to all the skincare that I've used.

It's almost as close to body secretion. Amazing.

Anyway, Hubby doesn't know why I wanna use it. I don't know either. I just thought I might be ovulating because I had a tinch of red discharge the night before. And I read from the books that it's a symptom for ovulation.

I may be wrong since I don't even know when is my next period and unable to count my days.

I guess I just wanted to try.

NFP Lesson

We signed up for Natural Family Planning course with Church of Risen Christ :)

Yesterday evening, Hubby and I went for our first NFP lesson. Andy gave a brief introduction on NFP, the Billings Method, how to observe my mucus and how to chart the daily diagram. This is a totally new concept and we both never heard of this before.

At first it's quite weird and to a certain extent gross. But we are told that this is an intimate activity that bonds married couples and it's wonderful to have the husband involved in the charting.

The registration fee is $25 and it includes some materials and also a book to take home.

Our next appointment in mid January 2011. I've started on my charting. I'm not used to this but I will do it for the sake of our planning.

30 November 2010

Started On Blackmores Conceive Well

I started on my first dosage of Blackmores Conceive Well on 23 November 2010. This is to prepare my body to absorb the right nutrients in preparation of conceiving. One box will last me for a month. I heard that it's recommended to take at least 2 boxes to better prepare the womb.

-------------------------

It's one week into Blackmores pills. Sometimes I feel like I've gastric pain, at times I feel rather bloated. I'm still continuing with the pills.

Hubby is also taking Centrum (if I feed him) and taking manuka honey with UMF+10 now.

26 November 2010

Have not really settled in

I realised that I haven't really settle into my new home. My stuff are only 50% here (the other half still at my mom's place) and I don't have much space to store my things already. Hubby's cracking his head and at the same time reminding me not to buy any more clothes and skincare. This weekend, we are going to IKEA to look at some furnitures and fittings. We will also be trying out rock climbing for the first time.

There are lots of interesting and fun things coming our way. I should enjoy more of our couple time and being together now instead of getting tensed up over conceiving and lovemaking. I should learn to relax and take things easy.

Yesterday I had a long talk with Hubby. He said that he is also getting used to my presence (actually he means tolerating me) and the new lifestyle. There are many things to learn, to give and take.

New life awaits.

The Secret Life of The Unborn Child

Dear bought this book for me. He said that I have to read it and realise that what I experience emotionally affects the baby. It's really too early to buy the book as I'm not even pregnant yet.

But well, okay, I will read.

Vitamins

I have been eating CENTRUM (vitamin for general health) for the past few months and also let  Dear eat Pcynogenol (anti-oxidant) from Nature Farm too. Vitamins really do not come cheap but I think it's good to build on good health so that our children will benefit and inherit the good genes.

about SG$50+

Another important reason why I chose CENTRUM is because it has a high folic acid content of 400mcg. Quoting from babycenter.com, ...the recommended daily intake of folic acid  for all women of childbearing age is at least 400 micrograms (mcg), or 0.4 milligrams (mg). Taking folic acid for at least one month before conception reduces the risk of neural-tube defects, such as spina bifida, by up to 70 percent.

Wynn Wright SG$140+ fr Nature Farm

I am eating this honey for complexion. This is one of their best sellers. Only Nature Farm carries (not GNC). Platinum Silk is a unique, one-of-its-kind formula that combines the goodness of Royal Jelly, Avocado seed extracts, Silk amino acids and Pearl powder in a base of pure, fresh and organic wild honey from the pollution-free Australian outbacks. More about Wynn Wright at this link here.

SG$46 from Watsons

I have bought Blackmores Conceive Well from Watsons after hearing raves about it in the forum discussion. The expiry date is Dec 2011. So I decided to buy and keep. I heard that this is often out of stock.

I will be visiting Chen Mei Er sinseh tomorrow to regulate my menses and to strengthen my womb. Will be kiasu and gonna tell her that I am preparing to get pregnant. Why am I so kiasu? Well, I've heard from forums that if you tell her that you are not married yet, she will take her time / choose to lengthen the treatment time. And if you tell her that you are married and have been trying for a baby for quite some time, she will refer you to do a scan at (i think she get referral fees) Gleneagles Hospital.

I have also stopped all cold drinks since two months ago esp during that time of the month. Even if I yearn to have something cooling, I will take little sips and I never ever drink more than 3 sips.

12 October 2010

烏雞白鳳丸

When I came back from Shen Zhen, I bought 5 boxes of 烏雞白鳳丸 to regulate my menses. My menses is still about 45 days. Each box costs $6 whereas in Singapore it is $25.

Wuji Baifeng Wan (simplified Chinese: 乌鸡白凤丸; traditional Chinese: 烏雞白鳳丸) is a blackish-brown pill used in Traditional Chinese medicine to "replenish qi and blood , regulate menstruation and arrest excessive leukorrhea.

For more information on Bai Feng Wan click here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wuji_Baifeng_Wan

Concentrated 官燕

When dissolved in water, birds' nests have a gelatinous texture. My mom claims that this texture is good for skin and contains collagen.

I want to have radiant and good skin before my wedding so I bought concentrated 官燕 from Fu Hua Chinese Hall. One box of 6 bottles costs $150 (before 10% discount). We wanted to check out the Roselle flower to make tea but she ended up spending $1550 there.

Anyway, the concentrated 官燕 has 3 boxes for $386 promotion. I thought if it's good then I will re-purchase from them later. Each consumption is a spoonful every day. This saves me time and effort from brewing the bird nests. If I can, I will eat bird nest everyday when I am pregnant.

Bird's Nest from a Clinical Experimental Point of View
According to a recent medical research reported by Hong Kong Chinese University, the cell division enzymeand hormone of bird's nest can promote reproduction and rebirth of human cells. The Glycoprotein content directly stimulates cell growth in human’s immune system.  As a result, body metabolism is enhanced and functional effects are greatly improved.

Bird's Nest from Traditional and Modern Chinese Medication's Point of View.
(Chinese Medication Dictionary)  Bird's Nest is used as restorative and remedial food since the Ching dynasty as recorded in (Major Herbs Guidebook) and (Major Herbs Digest). Previous clinical researches have concluded that bird's nest has a (sweet and calm) character. Bird's nest contributed medical benefits to lung, stomach and kidney neural system.

Bird's Nest from a Nutrition Point of View
The main nutrition contents of bird's nest are carbohydrate (30%) and protein (5%) although its protein content can be compare to that of milk or eggs. Bird’s nest also contains plenty of calcium and phosphorus, as well as some iron and iodine.

Treatment at JR Natural

The way to JR Natural is the lift beside Burger King Clarke Quay MRT. I didn't intercom to let them know that I am here and the lift wouldn't go up to the 7th floor. So I called them and one staff kindly came down to fetch me.

The place is neat, simple and clean. Their treatment rooms are separated into male and female areas. There are no doors but curtains to separate the beds.

I was asked to change into a set of pyjamas (need not remove my undergarments) and lay on the bed. The therapist came and started applying a herb serum on my tummy. She started to massage with her gloves on for 5-6 minutes.

As she massaged, she explained to me about the treatment and shared some knowledge about traditional chinese medicine, chinese therapies etc. She is from China and she has been in this line for 10 years. She seemed to have alot of knowledge in this area. Endless chatting about the topic.

After the massage, she did the point treatment for me. I'm not exactly sure how to describe. These points carry air waves and when in contact with the skin, it creates a vibration. She placed some on my tummy and arms for a few minutes. And then my feet and my back area.

When I did the back area, I was faced down. I felt more and more tired every minute. I actually dozed off when I was doing the back area, despite her chatting all the way before that. I rarely doze off during spa and body massage. I don't know why this is one of the rare occasions that I really fell soundly asleep.

After the treatment, I was given a bowl of white lotus dessert and honey tea drink.

She recommended a package of 10 sessions for $1400 with 2 boxes of Lotus pads. If I signed that day, I will get 10% discount. It's really expensive. I told her that I have to think about it.

She didn't really push further. I was tempted for a moment but I couldn't because I still have not pay off my credit card instalments.

2nd visit to Everspring

Yesterday was my second visit to Everspring. The waiting time is horrible again. We reached at 6.15 pm but I only saw the doctor at 8.50 pm. Crazy wait. I feel that their time management is very poor.

Meanwhile, Dear and I had our dinner at the coffeeshop behind. There is a really nice Ja Jiang Mian by a China chef. I like how the mince meat and the sauce blend together. The noodle seems to be handmade and it's soft and smooth. Their guo tie is nice too. 8 pieces for $3. Cheap and good.

I only talked to the sinseh for 2 minutes. Well, my menstrual cycle is still about 50 days. She changed the medication for me and gave me a bigger size bottle, which will last me a month. She said I can come and just buy the medication. After I finish 2 bottles, then I see her again, which is probably around November?

NaturalPad - Snow Lotus (2)

30 Aug -  is my first day of using naturalpad. When I first opened the pad, it contained a herbal smell. I've been wearing it for 4 hours already. It feels a little cooling down there. As I'm sitting on my chair and typing now, I can smell a little herb smell (like I am placing a liang teh beside me).

1 Sept - second pad used. Starting to like the herbal smell. Kinda like the 膏药布 smell too. Same cool effect down under.

5 Sept - third pad used. I had it on after my shower at 10 pm until the next morning. Didn't feel any sensation. I kinda prefer to wear it to work in the mornings.

8 Sept - fourth pad used. Somehow the cooling sensation subsided but the herbal smell is still there. I consulted the sinseh yesterday evening. She asked me to be cautious about fungus. 10 years ago, there is such a product in the market and users had fungus around their vagina. These products were not approved by the health authorities. The sinseh's advice is that I do not buy these pads. The next day, I did a check and found that it's said to be patented in the US since its launch. (google search)

15 Sept - fifth pad used. I used it after bathing in the evening and had it on throughout the night.

16 Sept - sixth pad used. I used it in the morning before I go to work. I'm using both consecutively  days to boost results and see if there's any difference. There is really more discharge today. I remembered the therapist told me that the more discharge, the more detox my body will be. I suppose this is good then.

20 August 2010

NaturalPad - Snow Lotus (1)

Just now, during lunch time, I saw this roadshow at Raffles Place Exchange.

Naturalpad Snow Lotus is a product for gynaecological detoxification. It resists bacteria and detoxifies. This product helps to maintain good female reproduction health. If you use it frequently, it can prevent women's problem, regulate internal secretion, improve facial complexion and delay the onset of ageing.

I got their brochure and was totally mesmerised by this. But I had to re-consider because the price is not cheap. Their shop is at 6 Eu Tong Sen Street #07-17 Clarke Quay MRT. They also have a website. I'm really keen to check it out.

Ermm... well.... I gave in to temptation. I bought it.

One box of 10 pads costs $100. One pad will last for 8-12 hours and the recommended usage is two pads a day. Oh gosh, of course I am not going to follow their recommendation. I'm going to use every alternate day. There is a promotion going on, so I am entitled to one therapy treatment at their shop with a purchase of $100.

The lady who served me really cared about me. She said that I look frail and weak. I should "tiao" my body well first before I decide to get pregnant. She also touched my arm and hand and told me that my body temperature is very cold (not warm enough).

My mom also said that I look good on the exterior but the interior all faulty. I must really take care of my health and body.

My first appointment was on 23 July 2010. Dear and me reached at 6.15 pm to register. Then we were told to go and have our dinner. We came back to the clinic at 7 pm and we waited until 8.10 pm till it was my turn.

Chen sinseh is very busy. While consulting me, she spoke on her handphone twice and left her chair once. I felt that there wasn't much attention given to me.

She asked me what's wrong and "heard" my pulse. I told her that my cycle has been 45-50 days after I stopped taking Diane 35. Then she said she'll give me a powder to mix in warm water and to take the mixture everyday for about 3 weeks. The whole conversation lasted for 5 minutes.

I have to come and see her 3 weeks later and let her know if my condition gets better. I asked the assistant who gave me medication whether he can give me more dosage so that I don't have to come back so soon. He said that if I avoid Fridays and Saturdays, the waiting time wouldn't be as bad. He also said that if I am not pang tang, I can come during 初一 or 初十五. Hopefully he is right.

I have been taking the mixture for the 3rd day already. It's brownish in colour and slightly grainy. The smell and taste of the medicine is bearable.

I finished my bottle and my next (second) appointment will be 7 September 2010.

Pre-marital Body Checkup

Ken & myself has gone for a full body checkup in March 2010.

We went for the Sunburst package with Dayspring. After 15% discount and inclusive of GST is $327.42. The clinic is at Paragon and it consists of the following:

Pre Health Screening Questionnaire
Coronary Heart Disease Risk Assessment
Personal/Family Medical History
Blood Pressure Measurement
Blood Analysis
Vision Test
Biometric Parameters

We have got the results. Doctor Lisa is very friendly and she went through the evaluation with both of us together. Ken is healthy and good except that he has to watch his cholesterol level (any higher on the scale, he would have to take medication). For me, I'm fine. I just need to go for a Hep B jab and to put on a little bit of weight so that I can conceive when we are ready.
