Foods to avoid from mommy's diet that may be upsetting to baby (when you are breastfeeding)

  • Dairy products (eg milk, ice cream, cheese, yogurt)
  • Caffeine (coffee, tea, chocolate, softdrinks)
  • Citrus fruits (oranges, lemons, grapes, strawberries, mangoes)
  • Certain vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, green peppers, cauliflower)
  • Spices (chili powder, cinnamon etc)


The colic-causing properties of these foods are most likely due to the fact they are difficult for the infant to digest.
