#1 Reggio Emilia project

I just made some paint in the kitchen.

red, blue and green - added food colouring

Got my ideas from:

http://www.theimaginationtree.com/2011/03/homemade-edible-finger-paint-recipe.html
http://www.momtastic.com/parenting/activities/171489-kids-activity-edible-homemade-fingerpaint

I tweaked the recipe and used tumeric powder for the yellow and red cabbage juice for the purple. I added one drop of lavendar aroma oil into the purple for a better smell. As for yellow, I didn't add because it has the smell from the tumeric spice.

My little artist serious at work

G's first painting at 11 months 2 weeks old

It's the LEAF and BRANCHES theme. G is kinda surprised that mommy is allowing the mess when I poured paint on her fingers and some on the paper. She tore part of the paper and I quickly tape it down. She ate some red paint and almost wanted to put the spoon with green paint into her mouth as well. The whole activity took her about 15 minutes. Who says babies have short attention span? LOL.

A second go at it...

This time she ate some paint. And swallowed a flower when I tried to dig it out.

I can't believe my ears

G is 11 months 5 days old now.

I was reading a book with her and we came to this page. I read "shen chuan piao liang yi fu fei wu, shi shui ne"?
And I heard her saying "fei fei fei". I am not sure if I heard it correctly and so I just left it as it is.

And then the next page. I replied "shi hu die". And she said "fei fei fei" again. I am so surprised that she could say or remember this.

Well, I am not sure whether she knows that butterflies fei fei fei or just seeing this picture made her recalled fei fei fei. Whatever the case is, I think it's a milestone.

So far, she can say and understand "hello? (on the toy phone), "bye-bye", "mama", "papa", "moom moom" (she probably learnt it from everyone else except me and hubby [I don't really like this word personally], "okay" and "nice" though she doesn't say upon request.

She can sign and understand "diaper", "milk", "fish" (she signed this today, with the sound!), "brush teeth" (she doesn't sign this anymore cos she doesn't like to brush her teeth), "sleep" and "eat" (v close to thank you), "bye-bye" and "thank you".

She can understand much more signs like "poo", "shower", "book", "flowers", "butterfly", "water", "angry" and "bird" though she isn't signing them now.

She likes to play peek-a-boo with me alot.

Mommy's education

Apart from reading articles online (babycenter.com, babysleepsite), I also bought ALOT of books from bookdepository.com to educate myself on being a better parent.

Now is all about putting what I've learnt into practice. Hubby and I have decided that we are going to do strict discipline from 1.5 years old but not by using the cane. Tons of websites on this if you would just google 'to cane or not'.

Monkey see monkey do

Baby G lately has been trying to copy me doing the things that I do to her. She is 10 months 2 weeks old now.

(1) She doesn't like it when I clean her tongue or when it's time to brush her teeth. I guess the bristles of the toothbrush feels weird in her mouth. She struggles or keeps her mouth shut tightly when I pry her mouth open to clean her tongue. Then the next thing I realised, she keeps digging her fingers into my mouth to scratch my tongue just to let me know how irritating it is.

(2) When I lie down in the play-yard or on my bed, she will come and pat pat me attempting to make me fall asleep.

(3) When I accidentally hit something and I "pretend to cry" cos it hurts, she will put her whole face on my neck and sometimes, she will kiss me (with her mouth full of saliva dripping wet).

(4) When she is eating her teething rusk and I asked for some, I put my mouth near the rusk and open my mouth trying to get it, she straightens her hand and give me but then changes her mind and take it back again. Then I come near her and I attempt to snatch it, she holds the teething rusk tightly and hides it under the highchair.

(5) My mom calls my dad [Dar] and we stayed with them for 2 weeks. Gracel started to call everyone else Dar for a while.

(6) I played with her the Ah buuu bruu bruu game (see facebook video) and she copied me laughing away.

(7) She copies me wiping her playmat and signing 'Thank You'.
